A person committed to serving our individuals by providing person-centered care to meet the needs of individuals with intellectual and related disabilities, head and spinal cord injuries, and autism.

Examples of supports provided:

  • Facilitates client's scheduled doctor/dental appointments and acquires all appropriate records of progress.
  • Administers medications as prescribed and records appropriately, observing daily for side effects or adverse reactions to medication.
  • Picks up medications and/or supplies as needed from pharmacy.
  • Documents progress of consumers weekly or more often if needed and indicated.
  • Instructs clients and residential staff in grooming procedures related to health and monitors to ensure correct procedures are being practiced.
  • Periodically observes meal preparations including packing lunches for clients to ensure sanitation procedures are practiced and client's dietary requirements are followed.
  • Observes food intake of clients periodically. Records changes or problems.
  • Checks and records vital signs monthly or as ordered by physician.
  • Performs any needed treatments for clients as prescribed by physician and directed by Director of Residential Services.
  • Reviews daily log to observe activities and health of clients.
  • Attends in-service and staff development to enhance job related skills, staff meetings as called by the Director of Residential Services, Residential Coordinator, or House Manager and participates in all annual and called reviews.
  • Reports all client health concerns to the Director of Residential Services for family contact.
  • Always maintains professional behavior and standards with clients and staff while on duty. Dress standards will be appropriate relative to work assignment.
  • Treats clients with respect and ensures that their personal rights are protected at all times and maintains confidentiality of clients and client's files.
  • Performs any related duty to position as assigned and requested to ensure overall health standards of clients and residents.
  • Accepts on call responsibilities on a rotating schedule with other LPNs.
  • Checks in medication received from long distance pharmacy and assures Medication Administration Records (MAR) match prescribed medications.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Preparation in a course for Practical Nursing, approved by the State Board of Nursing. A current license issued by the South Carolina Board of Nursing, completion of pharmacology requirements..

Compensation & Benefits

  • $23.31 per hour worked.
  • Paid Vacation, Paid Sick, and 13 Paid Holidays. Accrual of paid time off and paid holidays begins after the employee's 31st day of full-time employment. The accrual amount for Annual and Sick Leave increases with years of service. Within a full-time employee's first year, two weeks of annual leave and one week of sick leave accrues.
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance coverage is available through the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority. Coverages offered for Employee Only, Employee and Spouse, Employee and Child(ren), and Full Family. A list of premiums is available through the Human Resources Department.
  • All full-time employees are required to participate in the State Retirement Systems Pension Program. The current percentage contribution is 9% per pay period. The South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority also offers 401k plans.
  • SIGN ON BONUS: $ $1,000 AT THE TIME OF HIRE, $1,500 AFTER 90 DAYS OF FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT.
