Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of PositionResponsible and accountable for overall management of the patient care unit on a 24-hour basis.

Plans, develops andimplements a program of patient care services, meeting both community and organization needs. Responsible forsetting goals for self and team enhancing the ongoing management and achievement of stated expectations.

Workswith the Director to determine the impact and implications of actions and decisions within the department, includingrevenues/ expenses and operating margins.

Operates within an overall strategy set forth by the organization.

Workswith the Director implementing business, customer service and performance improvement strategies for thedepartment
Essential Job Functions*Patient Care Clinical Expertise & Leadership
Responsible for assessing and implementing daily operations to provide the most effective, efficient and highest quality patient/resident care.

Responsible to ensure delivery of services accomplished through collaboration with colleagues in all disciplines and within the clinical standards of practice.Personnel Management and Team Building
Directs and monitors operations/activities of staff to ensure assignments are carried out in accordance with Mercy Core Values, established practices, standards and hospital policies and procedures.

Collaboration with the clinical director, manager, team leaders, and human resources in evaluating performance.

Motivates staff to work successfully as a team; assisting staff in critical thinking, decision making process and ownership.Fiscal Management
Responsible for human resources management practice as guided in the policy and procedure manual.

Maintains and is accountable for daily operations in accordance with overall institutional budgetary objectives.Quality Management
Identifies process improvements and develops techniques to gather, analyze, and implement improved processes focused on the customerEmployment Qualifications

2 Year/ Associates Degree

Licensure/CertificationRequired:
Current nursing license in the State of Ohio and/or Kentucky BLS, ACLS, PALS and any other unit specific certification requirement
Licensure/CertificationPreferred:Hold national certification in clinical specialty or leadership within 6 months of eligibility
