S&ME seeks a motivated and passionate Business Developer to join our Region 3 (Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, or Chattanooga). Are you ready to contribute your experience and knowledge to make a positive impact in the civil engineering industry? Join us at S&ME

As a Business Developer, you will spearhead critical business development strategies while fostering collaboration with our Marketing and Project Management teams. Your role will be instrumental across diverse sectors, including economic/commercial/industrial development and municipal/governmental projects.


Your Day-to-Day:

Strategy: Collaborate closely with local staff to establish sales objectives and forge strong relationships with key decision-makers. Your strategic insights will be pivotal in driving the execution of business plans.

Business Development: Strengthen client relationships, acquire new clients, and engage in diverse projects. Active involvement in professional associations will enhance networking and foster sustained growth.

Marketing: Develop comprehensive association involvement and advertising strategies, including the organization of local events to bolster community engagement and brand visibility.

Proposals / Requests for Qualifications: Play a key role in the development and submission of proposals and responses to RFQs, ensuring alignment with client needs and objectives.

Training and Leadership: Foster skill enhancement among client managers and staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Lead monthly Business Development meetings for team alignment and synergy.


To excel as a Business Developer, you must demonstrate a proven track record of success in researching, prospecting, and securing face-to-face meetings with key decision-makers, resulting in qualified opportunities. Active involvement in professional organizations, industry associations, and local groups dedicated to economic and business growth will be advantageous.


What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, construction, business, or a related field
  • A minimum of 8 years of technical and/or business development experience within the Commercial Real Estate, Architecture, Construction, and Engineering industries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Existing relationships with various A/E/C industry Designers, Contractors, and Owners
  • The willingness and ability to travel, using a personal vehicle during company business
