Position Summary:


The University of Tennessee Medical Center is seeking a Cerner Clinical Support Analyst to become an integral part of our dynamic Cerner Clinical Solutions team.

The Clinical Support Analyst will provide at the elbow support for our clinical team members and providers with the PowerChart Ambulatory/Oncology application with our primary care and specialty clinics.

The Clinical Support Analyst will also take part in building, implementing and supporting PowerChart Ambulatory/Oncology aspects of Cerner applications within the UTMCK clinical environment.


Other duties include:

  • Acting as a liaison, this position delivers direct communication between departments for incident management, enhancement requests and ongoing educational updates.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for PowerChart Ambulatory/Oncology for clinical end users and providers.
  • Prepare necessary documentation, training/support materials and training in a variety of formats for end users.
  • Support new Cerner Clinical applications by ensuring the successful operation and use of existing Cerner applications through accurate and timely instructional materials.
  • Determine best delivery practices; identify Super Users to assist with meeting designated goals and objectives.
  • Serve as a vital interface between the Systems Analyst developers and front-end users, communicate effectively any pertinent workflow or systems issues and assist with resolutions that support both the technical team and the front-end users/stakeholders.
  • Lead one-on-one and/or group training sessions for clinic staff, providers and inpatient staff, provide system support in clinic and office settings, as well as serve as an onsite resource for staff members during Cerner implementations, upgrades and other hospital wide clinical rollouts.
  • Monitor systems performance, document problems, perform troubleshooting and assist with the development of work aids that result in the identification and correction of error conditions in the ambulatory settings.
  • Provide go-live and pre/post-implementation support for new modules and system solutions to assist users in the monitoring of documentation completeness, accuracy, and compliance with hospital, State, and Federal standards.
  • Perform quality assurance testing, troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Log service requests serve as a liaison with vendor support resources.
  • Seek ways to improve quality and effectiveness of various clinical processes.
  • Manage, schedule, and document meeting minutes for related PowerChart Ambulatory demonstrations, meetings, or events.

Position Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT and/or a clinical related field preferred, not required.
  • 2-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of educations and experience related certification
  • Experience developing Cerner functionality curriculums, job aids, quick tips and newsletters
  • Experience supporting clinical end users at the elbow
  • Basic front in knowledge of PowerChart Ambulatory and Oncology (focus area) end user usage required
  • Ambulatory Practice Experience Preferred
  • Great customer service
  • High level of communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the development of web-based training modules a plus
  • Knowledge and/or experience using a Learning Management Program
  • Knowledge of clinical workflows
