Our client located in Alpharetta, GA is currently looking for a skilled mechanical design engineer to join their team in the development of DoD C4ISR products. These projects mainly focus on designing display monitors, computers for military applications, as well as cabin management and inflight entertainment systems for various types of aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing mechanical components utilizing materials like machined aluminum and bent metal to meet and exceed project requirements.
  • Creating mechanical layouts and design concepts using SOLIDWORKS software.

Collaborating with electrical engineers to ensure proper component placement and cable routing. Proficiency in understanding material properties such as metals, plastics, adhesives, and gaskets, as well as experience in mechanical design for shock, vibration, and thermal considerations. Developing detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, performing tolerance analysis, and evaluating mechanical fit for prototypes.

  • Coordinating with the engineering team throughout the design, integration, and testing phases.
  • Working with the Prototype team to construct product prototypes for design validation.
  • Engaging with various divisions and departments as needed.
  • Generating cable drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Handling engineering change notices (ECNs) and conducting peer reviews.
  • Estimating project costs, selecting components, and suggesting process improvements.
  • Identifying, proposing, and implementing new technologies to enhance departmental operations.
  • Performing any other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

- Minimum of 7 years of relevant design experience with mechanical equipment and machined parts

- Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and knowledge of modeling best practices

- Familiarity with machine shops and CNC processes

Preferred Qualifications:

- Understanding of DoD standards and mil-spec regulations in product manufacturing

- Experience in product testing to address vibration and shock concerns
