Job Summary:

The Certified Hyperbaric Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) equipment, ensuring the safety of patients undergoing hyperbaric treatments, and collaborating with medical professionals to provide high-quality care.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor hyperbaric chambers during treatment sessions.
  • Ensure proper functioning of hyperbaric equipment, including pressure systems, gas delivery systems, and monitoring devices.
  • Conduct pre-treatment safety checks and equipment inspections.
  • Assist in the preparation and positioning of patients for hyperbaric treatments.
  • Run Multi Place and Mono Place chambers in an outpatient setting.
  • Monitor patients during treatments to ensure their well-being and respond to any emergencies or discomfort.
  • Educate patients on the hyperbaric treatment process, addressing any concerns or questions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and any adverse reactions.
  • Document chamber operations, pressure readings, and other relevant information.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
  • Respond promptly to any emergencies or complications during hyperbaric treatments.
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and integrate hyperbaric treatments into overall patient care plans.
  • Provide updates on patient progress and collaborate on adjustments to treatment plans.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including equipment maintenance, calibration, and performance checks.
  • Stay informed about advances in hyperbaric medicine and implement best practices.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited hyperbaric technician training program.
  • Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) certification and/or current Wyoming Nursing license required.
  • 3 years of previous experience working as a hyperbaric technician or in a related healthcare field.
  • Familiarity with hyperbaric chamber operations and safety protocols.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work Intensity: Medium work - exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time) and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently (up to 66% of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Hazard Exposure: Possible exposure to contaminated needles, infectious body substances, and other hazardous materials typically encountered in a clinical environment..
  • Physical Activity: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as standing, bending, crouching, lifting, and moving to assist patients and manage equipment.
  • Mobility: Must be able to move freely and quickly in emergency situations, including walking, running, and maneuvering in tight spaces.
  • Manual Dexterity: Requires fine motor skills for operating hyperbaric equipment and performing patient care tasks.
  • Sensory Requirements: Requires good visual and auditory acuity for patient assessment and equipment monitoring.
