Organizer II (Santa Barbara, CA)

UDW & Child Care Overview:

United Domestic Workers of America, UDW/AFSCME Local 3930, is a statewide labor union representing over 170,000 home care and childcare providers in 45 California counties. Established in 1979, UDW is a diverse and progressive labor organization seeking dedicated individuals to support members and those under their care at local, state, and national levels. In 2019, UDW/AFSCME Local 3930, in partnership with another National Union, secured Collective Bargaining rights for 40,000 child care providers in California, forming Child Care Providers United (CCPU). As part of the UDW/Child Care team, you will play a key role in empowering childcare providers, facilitating positive changes in the childcare system, organizing meetings, training providers to advocate on a broader scale, and fostering leadership within the childcare union. UDW, the largest union of home care and childcare providers in California, actively supports social justice initiatives such as racial equality, income parity, and accessible healthcare for all Californians. The organization advocates for improved working conditions, fair compensation, enhanced benefits, and full program funding for home care and childcare providers.
