End User Compute Engineer

Overview:
Gift of Hope is proud to serve as the federally designated not-for-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) that coordinates organ and tissue donation and provides compassionate service to families of donors in the northern three-quarters of Illinois and northwest Indiana.
Since our inception in 1986, we have coordinated donations that have saved the lives of more than 23,000 organ transplant recipients, and improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of tissue transplant recipients.
As one of 58 organ procurement organizations that make up the nation's organ donation system, we work with 183 hospitals in our donation service area.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, critical thinker, and problem solver that will play a crucial role in designing and implementing end-user computing and mobile solutions that enhance productivity, security, and the overall user experience.
This role requires a blend of technical expertise, customer service skills, and a deep understanding of traditional and modern computing technologies.
Responsibilities:

Design Implementation & Configuration:
Design, install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, peripherals, and software.
Ensure the seamless integration of innovative technologies into existing systems.
Assist in the recommendation of hardware and software solutions to meet organizational requirements.
Develop and maintain asset management tools that support automatic discovery, facilitate effective device deployment, re-use of assets, and provide a common view of user's information.
Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes for employees, including provisioning and deprovisioning user accounts.
Design, install, configure, and maintain advanced audio/video, and conference room services.
Security and Compliance:
Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.
Ensure antivirus software, firewalls, and other security applications are up to date.
Assist during regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Monitor and address issues related to device endpoint security and configuration deployment.
Technical Support:
Collaborate with the service desk team to resolve escalated technical problems.
Provide technical support for end users, addressing hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Develop and maintain documentation for troubleshooting and system configurations.
Perform incident root cause analysis and remediation.
Participate in on-call rotation to provide off-hours support and maintenance.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with peers, architects, and other stakeholders to develop effective IT solutions.
Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Develops standards required for documenting installs, moves, adds, and changes for all components within the end user computing environment.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas in the end user compute environment that presents technical challenges or opportunities.
Propose and implement improvements to enhance system performance and efficiency.
Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with relevant certifications and skills.
Qualifications:
Education and Training Required
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, related field, or equivalent experience.
Relevant certifications e
g, CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified:
Modern Desktop Administrator, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) etc.) are a plus.
ITIL Foundation certification; or be able acquire within 6 months of hire date.
Experience and Skills Required
5-10 years of experience in desktop support, end-user computing, or a related role.
5 years of experience building and deploying Office 365 and Teams, Microsoft Windows & MacOS operating systems, Active Directory, and group policies.
Advanced experience and knowledge enabling end user technologies in the cloud.
Expert-level knowledge of internet browser management, security, and configuration.
Expert knowledge on current and emerging end user computing solutions, platforms, technologies, and industry best practices and trends.
Strong knowledge of Single Sign-On and Multi-Factor Authentication technologies
Experience with mobile device management solutions.
Experience with audio/video conferencing, Microsoft Team Room, Teams, and Zoom.
Experience with application packaging, deployment, and OS patching.
Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
