This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
DutiesThis is an open Continuous announcement. to establish a standing register of qualified applicants to refer to the hiring manager. Referral lists will be created on a weekly basis. Final disposition will be completed once the position has been filled or the announcement reaches the end of the open period stated in the announcement.
The Suicide Prevention Coordinator's (SPC) duties are highly varied and complex.
The SPC supports daily operations of the Suicide Prevention program including tracking and providing direct care services to high-risk Veterans, providing education, training, outreach and consultation to VA and community stakeholders, reviewing and responding to high risk flag and the Veterans Crisis Line consults, completing daily reporting/tracking, and engaging in post vention activities as needed.
Additional collateral duties within the Mental Health Service, including Urgent Care coverage, may be assigned.Clinical and Consultation Responsibilities
Clinical and consultation responsibilities will vary and include responding to local referrals from the Veterans Crisis Line, performing detailed chart reviews in response to consult requests to determine need for high risk flagging, tracking and providing support and clinical services to Veterans flagged as high risk for suicide, tracking patients identified through the REACH VET initiative as high risk, engagement in post vention activities, and consultation with staff and trainees across the facility regarding suicide prevention resources, services and clinical interventions.
The SPS has responsibility for tracking multiple VACO, VISN and local suicide prevention related initiatives and metrics under the oversight of the Suicide Prevention program manager.
Training and Outreach
The SPC provides education and training on suicide prevention for VA staff and trainees and serves as a local content expert.
