Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Social Worker to join our team at Boston Public Schools. The successful candidate will work with students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) and their families to provide mental health counseling, trauma response, and resiliency-focused school social work services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide mental health counseling and support to SLIFE students and their families
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans for SLIFE students
  • Collaborate with school staff and community partners to provide comprehensive support services
  • Conduct crisis intervention and support individual and whole school crisis intervention as needed
  • Provide consultation to teachers and school administrators to support student success
  • Match students with appropriate services and monitor their progress
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
  • Bilingual/Bicultural in the identified SLIFE Program Language
  • Minimum of 2 years professional experience in an urban setting similar to Boston Public Schools
  • Certification by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a School Adjustment Counselor/School Social Worker
  • Licensed Certified Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
  • Four (3) years experience or more in Boston Public Schools or similar setting
  • Certification in Safety Care De-escalation
  • Certification in Psychological First Aid
