Responsibilities
Rapidly furnishes police officers with information as requested with a high degree of speed and accuracy.

Operates a police radio and computer terminal; retrieves and transmits crime data to centralized data banks throughout the country using a LEADS terminal.

Maintains various logs, files and recordsand transmits information to other law enforcement agencies, such as the Ohio State Patrol.\r\r\r
Minimum Qualifications
Education\rGraduation from high school (or G.E.D.).\r\r\r\rExperience\rMust have one year of experience in data entry.\r\r\r\r
License Requirements

Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

General Requirements

Must be able to type 30 net words per minute.\r

\r

Must be able to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Radio Information Officer is a multi-shift, 24 hour, 7 days a week position.\r

Must be able to acquire and maintain Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certifications within 6 months of employment.

Promotional Qualifications

Must be a full-time permanent or part-time permanent employee in pay grade 109 (Wage) or below, pay grade 18 (Clerical) or below, or equivalent, and been employed for 6 consecutive months by the City of Dayton in a classified Civil Service position.

Identical scores will be broken by (1) seniority and (2) random selection method.\r\r\r

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Incumbent is expected to stay abreast of current technological methods and haveknowledge, skills & abilities including, but not limited to the following areas:\r\r\r\r\r

Rapidly provide officers in the field with information as requested.\r

Retrieves and transmits data to centralized data banks throughout the country using a LEADS terminal.\r

Maintains various logs and records files pertinent to the job.\r

Dispatches tow trucks as requested by officers.\r

Upon request, furnishes confidential criminal case histories obtained from police files to officers.\r

Must be able to verbally communicate and be understandable over the various police frequencies.\r
