Purpose of Position:


To manage the product mix, inventory, pricing, and promotions of an assigned group of product categories for all business segments (Retail, Wholesale and Fleet) to achieve sales growth and inventory performance goals while maintaining high level relationships with vendors and internal team members.


Primary Roles:
Product Mix
Manage new product selection and launch process.
Provide mix information to marketing and sales to support merchandising and promotion of products.
Monitor performance of current offering and adjust as necessary to achieve sales and inventory performance goals.
Pricing
Set and implement pricing strategies.
Adjust prices based on market, inventory, and demand.
Negotiate with vendors for the best prices, discounts, and terms.
Promotions
Create promotions to boost sales and product awareness to support marketing calendar.
Coordinate with marketing, sales, and operations to communicate and execute promotions.
Evaluate effectiveness of promotions
Process incoming information
Review incoming information and feedback from vendors, buying group, Alamo team, and customers.
Act on, respond to, share, and document this information as necessary.
Inventory Management and Performance
Forecast and manage inventory levels, including min-max calculations and overrides, to ensure optimal availability and turnover.
Track and analyze inventory measures (Sales, Turns, GMROI, Margin, Fill Rate).
Manage disposition of inventory that is no longer part of stocking mix
Vendor Relationships and Performance
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors.
Communicate with vendors regularly to ensure order accuracy, issue resolution, and feedback.
Assess and evaluate vendor performance based on quality, price, service, and reliability.
Plan Vendor Visits

Other Responsibilities:
Review scheduled reports and take actions as necessary.
Performs other areas as requested.

Bachelor's degree with at least four years of related experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent organizational and computer skills.
Automotive experience preferred.
