POSITION SUMMARY:
(Briefly describe the overall purpose of this position - Why does it exist and how does it contribute to the overall organization?)Cooks from scratch. Follows recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments. Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables and cutting and trimming of meat, poultry or fish for culinary use. Take order specifications from customer as well as cook to the customer's specification to order in front of customer. Tastes product, reads, menus, estimates food requirements, check production and maintain records in accordance to HACCP regulations and guidelines. Accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Use bullets for specific responsibilities) Prepares all soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption in accordance to established and approved recipes.
All preparation shall be done in sufficient quantities to meet par levels in accordance to daily production records.

Modified food consistencies and ingredients to meet the specific needs of patientsOnly utilizes products purchased at approved vendors in accordance to HACCP regulations and guidelinesMaintain all HACCP mandated logs accurately and reports any and all anomalies to appropriate management immediatelyWorking knowledge of FIFO (First In First Out) and Time & Temperature conceptsKnowledge of proper procedures of heating, cooling and reheating of potentially hazardous and hazards food(s)Has a working understanding in all areas of responsibility in the production and service aspect of the department.

Takes orders from customer(s) and prepare to their specifications in front of them.
Keep with in the established time lines of the department.
Maintains a clean work environment and adopts a 'clean as you go' philosophy.

Conducts him/herself in a professional manner while on duty, wearing appropriate approved uniformHave the ability to have input in menus and systematic process's in order to achieve the ultimate goal in satisfaction from patients, customersAlways maintains a pleasant, helpful, and respectful attitude toward patients, co-workers, managers, and visitorsAnswers phone calls in a respectful and professional mannerConsistently maintains a clean, well groomed appearance and follows department policy for uniformsResponds to others in a flexible, helpful manner especially in times of increased activity, staff shortages or shifting priorities.

Engage in teamwork.

Ability to cook to order in front of customers while engaging the customer in the dining experienceAssist with Catered Events as deemed necessaryDemonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
