Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Principal Gifts & Strategy, the Director of Gift Planning will lead the donor engagement and gift solicitation efforts for Temple's Office of Gift Planning, playing a vital role on the University's central fundraising team.
The Director will be an integral team member to college, school and other unit-specific fundraisers in the cultivation and solicitation of prospects who are incorporating deferred gifts or complex assets as part of their overall philanthropy.
The Director will also maintain their own portfolio of approximately 75 prospects for cultivation and solicitation of planned, cash, and blended gifts.

The Director will also serve as program lead for gift officer training and marketing and will manage one full-time staff person whose duties include state registration compliance, estate administration, and life-income gift administration.

Required Education & Experience
:
Bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of
directly related
experience in gift planning program management and/or gift planning focused solicitations at an educational institution, hospital or not-for-profit organization is
required
. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities
:
Highly refined interpersonal skills; strong listening and writing skills; adept at communicating complicated or abstract concepts in simple terms; desire to work with diverse constituency groups.

Knowledge of tax laws governing charitable giving.
Working knowledge of the various aspects, goals, and processes of a broad-based fundraising program including mail and electronic media marketing.
Highly motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to organize and prioritize, with effective time management skills.
Ability to deal with confidential materials with discretion.
Fully functional in Microsoft Office tools and entering information and producing reports from a database.
Preferred
:
Legal or financial background such as JD, CPA, and/or CFP.
Major gift fundraising experience.
This position requires a background check.
This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
