Your Role in Making a Difference:

The Substance Abuse Counselor offers care services directly to patients dealing with mental health, emotional, and substance abuse challenges, collaborating closely with the treatment team to follow through on the comprehensive treatment plan for patients with dual diagnoses. This encompasses creating and conducting educational and treatment programs related to substance abuse, as well as facilitating individual and group therapy sessions. The counselor is tasked with patient evaluation, devising and executing Recovery Plans in alignment with company guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead group and individual substance abuse (SA) sessions for patients and build relevant programs.
  • Assess and appraise patients for co-occurring disorders to determine appropriate care levels.
  • Ensure timely completion of all essential records and reports.
  • Boost professional growth through in-service training and other outlets, while adhering to HR stipulations.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity, treating each patient uniquely and considering their cultural background in care provision.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university in a field related to social services.
  • Or Possess certification in the field of substance abuse
  • Or Have practical experience in the realm of substance abuse

Experience

  • Proficient in working with computers
  • Demonstrated ability to use department-specific software
  • Relevant experience in delivering addiction counseling services

Licenses/Certifications

  • Hold a license in an addiction counseling specialization (e.g., Certified Addiction Counselor, Registered Addiction Counselor, Certified Addiction Professional (CAP)); certification is highly preferred
  • Certified as a Counseling Trainee under supervision or licensed in social work, counseling, or psychology
  • Must acquire and maintain CPR certification
