Job Title: Senior System Administrator - Interoperability

Job Description:
The Senior System Administrator plays a crucial role within the Reliability team at HCHB. Responsible for documenting systems, assessing the impacts of new requirements, and delivering appropriate technical solutions aligned with operational needs, the role focuses on enhancing efficiency, implementing automation, and managing change effectively at scale and with precision. An ideal candidate for this position possesses strong technical skills, a deep understanding of modern infrastructure and automation practices, and the essential knowledge and expertise needed to ensure the quality, uptime, and availability of services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Available outside of business hours to address service incidents and migrations as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Utilize configuration management tools for infrastructure in a hybrid cloud model.
  • Provide support for Service Operations, including incident, problem, change, and request fulfillment.
  • Monitor, administer, upgrade, and patch production infrastructure and applications following standard procedures and runbooks.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures, documentation, and operational support.
  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements and support the compliance program.
  • Optimize monitoring systems to enhance detection capabilities and minimize alert noise.
  • Oversee the administration, maintenance, and operation of the InterSystems Ensemble and Healthshare platform.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementing security best practices in server configuration, tool development, and access controls.
  • Strong expertise in Linux or other Unix variants administration (such as Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat, Solaris) in a production environment.
  • Proficient in networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related).
  • Experience in managing and automating large-scale Windows and Linux environments using configuration management solutions like DSC, Ivanti, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Familiarity with modern infrastructure containers/Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Skilled in systems management and automation with a focus on self-repair mechanisms to minimize reliance on alarms and manual interventions.
  • Strong knowledge of correlation and monitoring tools like Splunk, Application Insights, Azure Monitor, or SCOM.
  • Proficiency in Active Directory administration and ability to support access management operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-centric approach, taking ownership of tasks with a bias for action and a deep dive into issues.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities with keen attention to detail to drive issue resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire new skills and apply them effectively.
  • Proven capability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks efficiently.

Preferred InterSystems Related Skills:

  • Maintain and monitor Journal files and space utilization.
  • Identify and address significant error conditions within the Cache database structure.
  • Understanding of High availability Cache mirror mechanism.
  • Implement best backup practices to ensure database integrity and recoverability.
  • Perform database rebuild, disk defragmentation, compaction, and truncation as needed.
  • Create namespaces and allocate appropriate Global, package, and routine mapping.
  • Manage Cache LDAP and password users in Cache and active directory.
  • Supervise cache role and resources.
  • Enhance instance processes and scheduled tasks efficiency.
  • Execute database maintenance and performance management tasks.
  • Knowledge of IRIS in Kubernetes and experience with upgrading from Cache.

Experience:

  • Over 3 years of experience in 24x7 production environments.
  • More than 3 years of experience in Windows and/or Linux administration in enterprise production settings.
  • At least 2 years of SQL coding experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with Healthcare industry HIPAA regulations or similar regulated industry standards like PCI and SOX.
  • Familiarity with process and IT service management concepts such as ITIL and ITSM.
  • Desirable experience using the ServiceNow platform in an IT Service Management or Service Operations role.
  • Experience working in Agile and/or SAFe environments.
  • Interoperability experience including supporting messaging standards and patterns is essential. Exposure to Healthcare Interface Industry standards like HL7, X12, XML, CCD, IHE is a plus.
  • Preferable experience with IRIS.

Education/Certification/Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related field (equivalent experience will be considered).
  • Candidates with relevant certifications are preferred, including but not limited to: HealthShare Health Connect HL7 Interface Specialist, ITIL Foundations, Configuration: RHCE-Ansible, Kubernetes - CKA, KCSP, Linux – RHCE, CompTIA Linux+, GCUX, LPI, Microsoft: Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer, Azure Architect, MCSE.
