Job Summary:

Direct liaison working on-site at OEM repair locations, responsible for supporting the repair technicians as they use Tracer, our wiring guided diagnostics tool to diagnosis electrical issues on production vehicles. The Tracer Diagnostic Expert will be the direct Tracer Triage analyst and will be the diagnostics support point of reference.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Employees will be given a 1-2 day training in the use of Tracer tool at Headquarters, Clinton Twp. location.
  • Assignments will be 1 of 2 facilities (Sterling Hts. -or- QEC Auburn Hills) to conduct triage program.
  • Diagnostics/Service Experts will rapidly scan each vehicle and determine the most-likely location of fault(s) & defects.
  • Diagnosed vehicles will be moved into logical groupings (VINs with similar defects) to improve repair throughput and determine which VINs must be shipped to other locations (CTC, SHAP, etc.) for more significant repairs.
  • Diagnostics Experts will work with Repair Technicians to:

Prioritize vehicles and assess severity/location of faults.

Develop triage hierarchy of vehicles for repair to rapidly maximize reduction of I-Status vehicles.

  • 3rd Party Repair personnel will begin, fix/remedy issue, while the Experts scans the next vehicle.
  • Experts will return to the original vehicle to scan and assess the completed repair to confirm fix.
  • Experts/Repair Personnel will close Tracer Case and properly enter root cause to support corrective action & data analytics.

Basic Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate would have 3 to 5 years' experience (but would consider similar experiential knowledge-based skills/training) in automotive and electrical repair/service.
  • Possess knowledge of new model year vehicles and their key electrical systems/components and wiring.
  • Relevant knowledge/experience with mechanical automotive repair/service.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
