GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

In addition to carrying out tasks of Environmental Services Aide I, this role involves project work outside the regular cleaning routine. It includes specialized cleaning in critical care areas like operating rooms, dialysis, emergency services, and ICU's.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes cleaning, sanitizing, and polishing of environmental surfaces in assigned areas following departmental and hospital policies & procedures
  • Cleans horizontal & vertical surfaces daily, including patient rooms, lavatories, offices, corridors, stairwells, elevators, treatment rooms, special care areas, conference rooms, locker rooms, lounges, and public areas
  • Utilizes various chemicals and equipment such as germicidal detergent, bleach, window cleaner, floor finish, bucket/wringer, floor machine, vacuum cleaner, carpet extractor, and hand tools
  • Empties/relines soiled laundry, waste & RMW containers, and transports them to disposal site
  • Cleans post-discharge patient rooms and periodically refreshes window curtains & cubicle curtains
  • Uses equipment for hard-surface flooring cleaning, stripping, refinishing, burnishing, as well as carpet shampooing & extracting
  • Performs specialized cleaning in critical areas with aseptic technique and complex processes
  • Moves furniture/equipment with dollies and hand carts, secures dysfunctional equipment, and reports breakdowns to supervisor
  • Performs other assigned or necessary duties, including incidental access to medications

Basic ability to understand and speak English (oral & written)

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Requires physical ability to bend, stoop, reach & climb ladders. Must lift over 50lbs multiple times per shift. Ability to carry out repetitive motions like dry mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, and hand scrubbing. Also, operate high-powered equipment.

Requires moderate verbal communication skills for interaction under stressful conditions with patients, visitors & staff. Technical knowledge of general & specialized cleaning procedures & products.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
