Title:Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement - Identity and Affinity Programs

Position Purpose:

The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement - Identity and Affinity Programs reports to the Director of Alumni and Parent Equity and Inclusion Programs to expand College Advancement efforts to engage underrepresented racial, ethnic, LGBTQIA+, first -generation to college and international alumni and their parents in the life of the college through identity and affinity programs, events, and volunteer opportunities. The Assistant Director will also work with students to educate, engage and create alumni connections. Tasks include: supporting volunteers, engaging students, planning events and programs, preparing email marketing campaigns, and special projects as assigned.

Job Duties:
  • Under the direction of the Director of Alumni and Parent Equity and Inclusion Programs, create and support programming focused on engaging underrepresented racial, ethnic, LGBTQIA+, first -generation to college and international alumni and their parents.
  • In partnership with Advancement colleagues, create and execute an engagement and communications strategy focused on building awareness of alumni engagement and philanthropy at the College. Current programs include but are not limited to the Senior Class Toast, selection of the Class Ivy Stone, and collaboration with Senior Class Co-Chairs in Senior Week programming.
  • Partner with members of the Annual Giving and Reunion team to maintain pathways for class engagement beyond graduation. Recruit, train, and steward senior class volunteer leadership. Collaborate with campus and Advancement partners as needed to guide program success.
  • Recruit and support Bobcats of the Last Decade (BOLD) alumni class volunteers in programs and communication with peers about regional opportunities and the variety of ways to remain connected to Bates.
  • Recruit and support regional volunteers in implementing regionally based programs and events.
  • Collaborate with Alumni Engagement and Advancement colleagues to ensure success of key departmental and Advancement initiatives and programs, including signature programs of Back to Bates and Reunion Weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Experience
  • 2+ years of work experience in college advancement, development office or transferrable skills preferred.
  • Understanding of data and how to analyze for application and results preferred.

  • Keen attention to detail necessary for successful documentation, planning, and execution.
  • Proficiency in data management systems, mail merges, statistics and basic computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed.
  • Creative, flexible and a sense of humor.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (by car, air, train, or bus) domestically as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, evenings, and other non-traditional schedules.
