HNTB is seeking an experienced Project Architect with a proven track record in transportation architecture.

With substantial experience as a project architect in transportation architecture, the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of architectural building systems, construction methods, building materials, and detailing specific to transportation projects.

The candidate should have demonstrated knowledge and ability to understand the needs of all Building and Facilities disciplines. The candidate should have successfully led architectural projects, including coordination with project teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. The candidate must hold a degree from an accredited architecture program, and licensure as a registered architect is required. Proficiency in relevant design software is essential.

The successful applicant participates in all phases of project development and construction including full technical support of the architectural development as well as incorporation of all disciplines involved with the design.

The candidate serves as a resource to the project designer and project team as the design is developed. The role includes serving as the lead technical architect on small to medium sized projects and assisting the Sr. Project Architect on large projects.
As a Project Architect, the successful candidate performs the duties as outlined in the "What You'll Do" section below, and the following duties:
Coordinates technical architecture and coordination project efforts to ensure efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects.
Develops strategic plans for successful architectural design development and execution, actively manage discipline budgets, schedules, and program requirements.
Administers project communications and documentation and assign project team responsibilities to execute architectural tasks and coordination with other disciplines.
Estimates fees, determine scope of work, and prepare proposals and contracts for architecture and coordination work for medium-sized projects.

Integrates quality control measures for architectural and coordination tasks during all phases of design, oversee work efforts, and review work performed, ensuring a technically sound and consistent solution.


What You'll Do:


Develops and presents lead technical viewpoint on projects and ensures HNTB systems are used to deliver the design in a standardized manner.

Ensures that a technical solution consistent with the program and design is properly developed and produced. Integrates quality control measures during all phases of design.
Promotes the implementation and enforcement of BIM and design technology standards, best practices, and project team workflows.
Serves as a subject matter expert on architectural projects of small to medium size and assists on larger projects.

Works closely with the project designer and manager in planning and implementing all work processes in consideration of budgets and schedules.

Work includes preparing work plans, estimating hours to complete tasks, developing project reports, managing consultant team members (including coordination and incorporation of all work products) and reviewing invoices.

Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture and 6 years of relevant experience.

Proven experience leading architectural projects, with a focus on transportation facilities and public infrastructure
Expertise in construction methods, building materials, and detailing specific to transportation projects
Extensive understanding of interdisciplinary coordination
Thorough understanding of building codes, accessibility guidelines, NFPA and other industry standards
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design software
Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills

The approximate pay range for Maryland is $83, $142, Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.

Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
