Summary:

Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as needed.

The CHRISTUS Children's Hospital, founded in 1959, stands as the premier children's hospital in South-Central Texas. Serving over 70,000 children annually, this 190-plus-bed facility, located in downtown San Antonio, offers highly specialized services meeting the unique medical needs of children, from Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care to various specialized programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Provides nursing care following the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, utilizing the nursing process for assigned patients.
  • Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Administers medications and treatments, monitoring effectiveness and side-effects.
  • Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
  • Assesses learning needs and educates patients, family members, and caregivers.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • One year of nursing experience preferred.
  • Current Texas State RN License or Compact RN License
  • BLS (American Heart Association) certification.
  • ACLS certification required at hire for experienced RNs, and for new graduates by the end of clinical orientation.
  • PALS certification required at hire for experienced RNs, and for new graduates by the end of clinical orientation.
  • Crisis intervention training required within 12 months of hire/transfer date.
  • Trauma facilities require TNCC within 6 weeks of hire for experienced RNs, and for new graduates within 18 months.
