The DevOps Engineer II oversees the standards and governance related to the management of code repositories to enhance and safeguard build and release pipelines, infrastructure, and procedures for business software operations.

This role engages in site reliability engineering for the organization, supporting Cenlar's comprehensive Information Factory endeavors and ongoing activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a critical resource in overseeing the standards and governance of DevOps processes
  • Resolve increasingly intricate issues and devise and implement solutions requiring expertise to interpret against policies, guidelines, or processes
  • Collaborate, advise, and present technical information to management regarding the DevOps environment
  • Act as a technical authority within the DevOps domain
  • Commence mentoring junior DevOps Engineers and IT staff
  • Create, document, and communicate DevOps processes and standards
  • Establish and maintain naming standards and conventions pertaining to Azure resources
  • Develop best practices to ensure adherence to security standards in line with IT protocols
  • Set up continuous integration and release pipelines
  • Configure approvals, delivery plans, and boards
  • Ensure secure pipelines and service connections
  • Play a pivotal role in implementing standards through automation in build/release pipelines with appropriate approval processes and controls
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and management on enterprise controls and processes
  • Design and construct build pipelines to prevent unauthorized code deployment in the production environment
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Science professionals, Developers, and other content producers to deliver artifact value in a regulated manner
  • Identify data requirements to introduce and sustain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for data-centric code
  • Spot opportunities for enhancements and present proposals to the management team for approval
  • Offer recommendations on designs, structures, scalability, and security of DevOps infrastructure
  • Design, fortify, test, and implement changes to existing software environments and enhance data infrastructure security protocols
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to ensure data quality through purification and validation

Security

  • Devise and implement security protocols to safeguard data and the code repository including encryption and access management
  • Create optimal practices for establishing Projects and Teams within the Enterprise
  • Guarantee all projects adhere to established IT controls and escalate issues to management
  • Promote data security measures, including encryption and access management
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, tools, and technologies in Data DevOps and ensure junior team members are well-versed in industry trends and modifications
  • Conduct appropriate risk identification and assessment when making business decisions, encompassing compliance and operational risks
  • Exhibit regard for Cenlar's reputation and our clients by upholding compliance with relevant laws, rules, and regulations, following Policy, employing sound ethical judgment regarding personal conduct and business practices, and reporting control issues

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work background
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in designing, developing, and supporting databases
  • Demonstrated expertise in data engineering, data management, or DevOps
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in data engineering, data management, or DevOps roles
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or Scala
  • Experience and proficiency with data orchestration tools and frameworks such as Apache Airflow
  • Adept with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Skilled in constructing pipelines to facilitate the containerization process
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities accompanied by the aptitude to suggest and devise process improvement strategies
  • Organizational skills enabling guidance in the development and execution of multifaceted data projects
  • Capable and motivated team player with a track record of effectively communicating complex subject matter to all organizational levels, including senior leadership
  • Ability to form collaborative relationships with functional teams and set expectations with business partners
  • Capability to serve as a role model and mentor to colleagues and junior staff
  • Proficient in acting as a key technical resource supporting technology decisions
  • Skilled in formulating technical solutions
