An effective Area Sales Manager will ensure the successful growth of Craft Massachusetts' market share, sales and distribution while maintaining control of expenses. As a leader of Craft Massachusetts' field activities, this position requires sound decision making, critical thinking, problem solving, negotiation skills, and self-motivation. The ability to identify, recruit, train, and motivate a team of remote staff is critical to success.


What you will be doing...

  • Supervise and direct assigned Sales Representatives to ensure the greatest possible sales and distribution of products, and maintain morale and motivation
  • Develop relationships with all level of buyers through time spent at the individual premise level
  • Maintain outstanding supplier relationships for all specialty brands in the territory
  • Develop rapport with assigned customer base and promote the good will of the Company
  • Implement and execute the marketing strategies of the Company
  • Collaborate with core sales team to maximize synergies and market share
  • Ensure market share growth in designated segments within assigned sales reps' territories
  • Execute monthly goals as related to business activities
  • Research and secure all special event opportunities within assigned area
  • Provide route coverage where necessary
  • Assist where necessary with promotions in accounts
  • Recruitment, selection, and training of the sales force to include ride-withs/team sales as assigned
  • Demonstrate a high-level of aptitude for beer industry and beer product knowledge, as well as strict observance and compliance to all laws and regulations governing the sale of alcoholic beverages
  • Manage inventory for the territory to ensure all product is sold within its shelf life and administered in a way that grows total company business
  • Ensure proper merchandising of accounts with permanent and paper POS
  • Ensure all product is rotated and code policy is followed
  • Handle customer inquiries regarding credit, delivery, product information, and other inquiries as they arise
  • Ensure effective accounts receivable collections within company credit policy
  • Other duties as assigned

What we are looking for...

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, sales or management
  • 3-4 years previous experience in sales beer industry
  • 1-2 years previous management experience
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Certified Beer Server
  • Proficient computer and technology skills
  • Valid and clean driver's license with active auto insurance
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements...

  • Ability to lift the equivalent of 2 cases of beer at once or more
  • Ability to bump a 165 lb keg down a flight of stairs using a two handed truck
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, reach, lift as needed to store or remove product from accounts
