As a Software Development Engineer on our team, you will design, build, and operate AWS services, using your AI/ML experience, to help large enterprise companies move their computing into AWS. You will become an expert in migrations, which are complex problems involving hundreds or thousands of computer systems that must be identified, organized, and migrated or modernized in a way that meets each customer's unique needs.

This position involves periodic on-call responsibilities. We dont like getting paged, so we build our systems fault tolerant and root cause problems so were not paged for the same issue twice.

Key job responsibilities

You play a key technical leadership role on your team, understanding the business and customer need as well as the technology. You drive design, implementation, and delivery. You bring your expertise in implementing AI/ML-based systems to revolutionize the migration process for customers. You provide effective communication of your ideas within and across teams to create the right outcomes for your team and customers. The quality and efficiency of your code, design, and implementation set a great example of best practices for engineers. You actively participate in mentorship of others through code and design reviews, helping improve skills, and teaching best practices. You want the opportunity to grow your technical and professional skills while helping AWS grow.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

2+ years of experience implementing systems using Java and AWS services

Good understanding of the following AI principles: (a) Developing and evaluating LLM-based solutions using RAG and ReAct (agents); (b) Multi-agent solutions; (c) Retriever and re-ranking algorithms; (d) Guardrails implementation and hooking into the inference lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Ability to fine-tune foundation models and evaluate LLM model performance using various metrics.

Experience using the following AI techniques: (a) Development of RAG based solutions (using langchain, griptape, llamaindex); (b) Development of multi-agent solutions (using langchain, griptape or langraph); (c) Implementation of guardrails

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market.
