Position Information

The City of Brentwood is seeking a professional level, motivated Management Analyst in the Finance and Information Systems Department. As a Management Analyst, your expertise will be pivotal in executing a variety of multifaceted projects through varying degrees of complexity. Your contributions will be essential for the successful implementation of a wide array of initiatives, including the creation of comprehensive reports, the performance of in-depth financial analysis, the delivery of exceptional customer service, and the facilitation of presentations to the Council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Skillfully spearhead multiple complex projects, navigating diverse scopes and intricate challenges.
  • Detail-Oriented Precision: Engage in meticulous report writing, financial calculations, and analysis, ensuring details are captured with accuracy.
  • Procedural Expertise: Oversee the execution of policies and procedures, budget formulation, and the procurement process, while ensuring adherence to City policies.
  • Dynamic Training & Presentation Skills: Craft and conduct effective trainings for City staff and present clear and accurate presentations at Council meetings.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Guidelines
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:

  • A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, or a related field that pertains to the scope of work.
Experience:
  • Four years of progressively responsible professional experience in public administration, project/program management, or business performing a variety of analytical functions.
License or Certificate:
  • California Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record maintained throughout employment.
Application Process

Postmarks, faxes and incomplete applications will not be accepted. Your application must be filled out completely online. Resumes must also be submitted but it is not a substitute for a completed application.

The examination process will consist of:
  • Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position and to ensure all materials have been submitted.
  • Written Exam - Applicants possessing these requirements will be invited to take the written test. The examination will cover elements of the knowledge and abilities identified in the job description and is tentatively scheduled for the week of June 24, 2024.
All applicants that pass the examination process will be placed on the eligible list which is good for at least 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months. This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.
