Job Description

Blackline Midstream operates two refrigerated liquified petroleum gas import/distribution terminals in the Port of Portsmouth and In Providence Rhode Island which receives propane by vessel and rail for distribution by truck to propane distributors.

Position Summary

The Business Intelligence and Optimization Specialist will be responsible for leveraging data to gain insights that drive business optimization and enhance profitability. This role is pivotal in supporting business systems and providing terminal level IT support, aimed at streamlining the full spectrum of the organization's supply chain for improved efficiency and profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Collaborate closely with procurement, marketing, operations, and logistics teams to integrate and align strategies across the value stream.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain systems and tools to efficiently collect and analyze data, defining key performance indicators to support data-driven decisions across critical business functions.
  • Analyze business requirements and processes and provide recommendations for new process and system implementation.
  • Manage data and provide reports through office applications to improve business processes.
  • Create and maintain documentation to include requirements and user manuals for the business systems.
  • Provide ongoing functional support, development and maintenance of IT systems, networks, and physical infrastructure in support of facility specific systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and macros. Able to write and optimize SQL queries.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously at various stages of development while prioritizing commitments and managing time effectively.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle databases and understand technology-driven business intelligence tools.
  • Ability to analyze information and think systematically.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience in Computer Science, Business, Math, Analytics or related field.
  • Experience with Terminal Management and Logistics Systems, including HMI and Databases desired.
  • Knowledge of Networking, Communications and Security hardware and software management
  • Experience working in a Microsoft Excel and SharePoint environment.
  • Preferred: Certifications in data analytics, project management, or related fields.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and telephone keypad.
  • May occasionally be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and working environment.
  • May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
  • Hybrid work arrangement available.
  • Some travel required.
