Transition & Children's Services Direct Support Professional (T&C DSP)

While there are several responsibilities involved in this role, the position entails much more.

Successful T&C Direct Support Professionals will embody key traits such as ethics, patience, reliability, tenacity, and compassion. They should also be able to work autonomously and adapt to various situations. A solid understanding of mental health, positive behavioral support, and advanced training is essential. Moreover, sharing department/team goals is crucial when needed. It is vital for individuals in this role to promote evidence-based therapeutic models and environmental adjustments to help others lead stable and fulfilling lives. Working primarily in 24-hour residential homes, T&C DSPs aim to provide safety, stability, nurturing, and life skills training. They also strive to create a joyful, positive, and affectionate environment where every individual can flourish and evolve.

Job Type: Full-Time

  • All open shift hours are predetermined and vary based on individual requirements. Positions with 30 hours or more are classified as full-time, while some part-time shifts may be available.

Compensation: $18.50 per hour

An extra $1.00 is added to the base wage of $17.50/hour upon completion of all mandatory training sessions. Besides, a $1,000 sign-on bonus is provided in incremental payouts upon reaching specific milestones during employment.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum age requirement is 18 years (no Diploma/GED necessary).
  • Capability to lift at least 25 lbs regularly (some shifts may require more).
  • Certification and maintenance of an acceptable Oregon Intervention System (OIS) level.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certification and maintenance.
  • Clean state/federal Criminal history and protective service check, including fingerprinting.
  • Passing a pre-employment drug screening for illegal substances in Oregon.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a record insurable for driving.
  • Basic computer skills - a computer assessment will be conducted before hiring.

Training Requirements and Expectations:

  • Attendance at a mandatory Meet and Greet session in Grants Pass, OR, which serves as the first day of work.
  • Shadowing shifts between Meet and Greet and Orientation Training.
  • Completion of a two-week in-person paid orientation training in Grants Pass, OR.
  • Successful participation in all classes and submission of required documentation during orientation.
