Century Group is excited to partner with a company in the Organic foods manufacturing industry who is seeking an experienced Controller in the East Bay area (hybrid schedule). This position will report to the CFO and is focused on the accuracy of financial reporting and the integrity of its internal controls. This position will be responsible for developing and coaching a high-performing team that will scale to the Company's growing needs. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location. Expected starting base salary $170,000 to $175,000 per year.

Job Description:

  • Manage, monitor, and streamline all aspects of the month-end close process, including managing cross-functional teams to ensure a timely and accurate close in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting and administrative policies & procedures.
  • Manage, monitor, and streamline accounting operations, including cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting and internal controls.
  • Manage, train, and develop department staff to enhance quality and productivity, including mentoring staff and maintaining a two-way dialogue with direct reports on work and results.
  • Safeguard the assets of the Company by ensuring the availability of accurate and timely financial and accounting records compliant with GAAP and other relevant standards.
  • Participate in the development of annual department expense budgets and forecasts for operations and logistics as well as monitoring performance to budget and forecast.
  • Provide general financial support for all operations, logistics and other departments, as well as representation of various teams.
  • Proactively work with external resources to minimize tax liabilities and ensure continued compliance with all federal, state and local tax requirements.
  • Manage all external reviews, audits and related activities to ensure continued compliance with required covenants and availability of future funds.
Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to communicate with professionals at all levels
  • Able to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information; collects and researches data; use intuition and experience to complement data; designs workflows and procedures.
Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, in accounting, finance or related field
  • CPA Certification preferred
  • CMA or MBA preferred
  • 8-10 years' experience as a Controller in a cost accounting environment
  • Some public accounting experience preferred
  • Food manufacturing experience is a plus
