Job Duties


The Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (SBSD) is seeking a SWaM Certification Officer to join the Agency's certification division.

The certification division of the Agency is responsible for the administration of Virginia's business certification programs.

Its mission is to ensure only eligible Small, Women-owned, and/or Minority-owned (SWaM) businesses are certified to participate in Virginia's procurement and contracting opportunities.


Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Considerable knowledge of business structures, financial documents, interviewing techniques, construction terminology, and computer skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret federal and state regulations.
  • Ability to analyze information related to financial and business documents from several sources; and ability to identify problem areas and make logical recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to input and track data in a database and prepare reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to accurately track their own work and generate reports of activities; and possess the ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Additional Considerations

  • Experience in state and regulatory programs, business, construction, or other equivalent experience.
