Job Overview:

Responsibilities:

  • Serve legal documents, such as summonses, complaints, subpoenas, and other court orders, to individuals involved in civil court cases.
  • Verify the identity of recipients and ensure that documents are delivered to the correct individuals.
  • Maintain accurate records of all served documents, including dates, times, locations, and recipient information.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports and affidavits to document service of process.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and court officials regarding the status of service and any relevant updates.
  • Adhere to all legal regulations and ethical standards governing civil process serving and the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office.
  • Utilize effective strategies to locate and serve evasive individuals when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience as a process server or in a similar role within the legal field is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of legal procedures and regulations pertaining to civil process serving is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse individuals.
  • Exceptional organization and timemanagement abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology for recordkeeping and communication purposes.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage a caseload of service assignments.
  • Valid driver's license as you will be driving a company vehicle.
