Job Title: Swim Instructor at Old Colony Y



Overview: Join our team at Old Colony Y as a Swim Instructor responsible for providing high-quality swim lessons following National YMCA standards.



Responsibilities:

  • Wear appropriate aquatic attire including identifiable instructor shirt and bathing suit.
  • Provide friendly, courteous, safe service to all members, clients, and volunteers.
  • Prepare and instruct assigned classes, maintaining communication with participants and parents.
  • Evaluate swimming levels, prepare certificates, and maintain accurate records.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and uphold employee code of conduct.
  • Recruit and promote YMCA values and programs.
  • Supervise pool area and swimmers, enforce rules, and ensure safety.
  • Adhere to fiscal policies and facility/housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Participate in interdivisional, community, and volunteer responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 16 years of age.
  • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, AED, and O2.
  • Completion of in-service YMCA Swimming Lesson Training.
  • Lifeguard, YMCA Swim Certification, and/or WSI preferred.
  • Acquire YMCA Swim Certification within 6 months.
  • Able to perform all physical tasks as a Swim Instructor.
  • Complete program-specific and employee orientation training.
