Summary
The Assistant Safety Manager provides safety oversight to deliver projects that are on time and on budget.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain company safety culture
  • Conduct safety training and inspections
  • Recommend process and procedure improvements to minimize hazards
  • Prepare comprehensive jobsite specific safety plans
  • Provide incident/accident initial notifications
  • Provide incident/accident investigative procedures and report, identify mitigating factors, root cause, and corrective action
  • Review safety, health, environment, and compliance portions or sections of contracts sent by a general contractor and/or client for prequalification and submittal processes
  • Meet with general contractors and other clientele to review or set up expectations and guidelines during prequalification, award conference meetings, and prework start conference meetings
  • Observe and assess work sites and job locations, and provide and implement safety plans, JHAs, regulations, safety standards, and corrective actions along with written evaluation Render First Aid
  • Identify and control nonemergency injuries and provide safe transportation to and from a predetermined company selected industrial clinic provider
  • Discuss employee incident/accidents with appropriate personnel and plan for bestcase management scenarios and decisions
  • Promote safety, health, and compliance trends, issues, corrective measures, and goals
  • Travel by company provided vehicle to various jobsites

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or Construction Management preferred
  • 5+ years of safety experience in the construction industry
  • Underground utility experience preferred
  • OSHA 500 certification
  • OCIP/CCIP experience
  • Case management experience
  • Good communication and computer skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Clean driving record
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
