GENERAL DUTIES

  • Processes surgical instruments and supplies and uses appropriate techniques in handling instruments to avoid injury.
  • Ensures all the required instruments are on the tray by counting each instrument and verifying count in instrument tracking system.
  • Decontaminates surgical instrumentation and resets instrument trays.
  • Analyzes the outcome of the sterilization process to determine success and recalls loads if there is a discrepancy in the process.
  • Reports breakage, missing instruments, supplies and equipment to the management.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of precautions necessary in handling soiled instruments and equipment.
  • Repairs, validates, and performs preventive maintenance of instruments based on written procedures and training received.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience in equipment sterilization or Instrument or Operating Room Aide or Tech.
