Come join us in a role that sits at the intersection of materials, manufacturing, characterization, and data science

What you will do:

  • Manage the complete lifecycle of metrology projects, including gathering requirements, identifying and validating solutions, performing or assisting with installations, planning improvements and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external integrators to define, develop, and deploy in-line metrology systems.
  • Collaborate across metrology, process, software and automation teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet throughput and performance requirements.
  • Lead efforts in sample and measurement hardware fixture design.

Minimum requirements:

  • PhD in mechanical engineering, materials science, EE, physics, or a related field; or M.S. with 3+ years of experience; or B.S. and 5+ years related experience.
  • Hands-on experience with design and integration of automated process and/or metrology tools.
  • Previous experience with developing, validating, and deploying robust imaging and characterization hardware (optical, acoustic, ultrasound, x-ray imaging, and/or thermal sensors)
  • Strong understanding and practical knowledge of measurement systems analysis, statistical process control, and design of experiments.
  • Proficient in CAD design and rapid prototyping methods.

Highly desired:

  • Experience with scale-up of manufacturing metrology solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills pertaining to managing design specifications and documentation
  • Previous experience modifying, retrofitting process or metrology tools
  • Experience with precision mechanisms and tool design. Experience with kinematic mount design is a plus
  • Experience with GD&T tolerancing symbols and guidelines.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • You have a curious, hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • You are a proficient learner and can build up expertise quickly across a wide variety of technical subjects and disciplines.
  • Strong communication skills and passion for working in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Your time-management skills allow you to independently balance multiple high-impact projects.
  • You apply your resourcefulness to develop new skills, and you're not shy about asking questions.
  • You share a real passion for our mission

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary range for this role has a range of $123,900 to 165,600 , but a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background.

QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan.
