JOB BRIEF

As a Controls Engineer at Modern Process Equipment, you will be responsible for managing the electrical and controls design and testing for OEM capital equipment. You will utilize internal and external resources to align customer automation needs with the company's equipment and system solution offerings. In this role, you will be involved with activities related to controls and automation for the company, from the automation requirements on in-house equipment orders to the establishment of standards and processes for use both in-house and with automation partners.

This position reports to the Director of Engineering.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the creation of electrical schematics & bill of materials for control panels.
  • Manage the development and testing of PLC programs using RSLogix 5000 and FactoryTalk View Studio.
  • Support the production team in coordinating controls integration on completed equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical and code irregularities.
  • Provide advisory support to systems group on operation sequencing.
  • Support customers in their control integration efforts, both in pre and post sale
  • Stay abreast of the latest technology and advancements in automation/control systems; leverage new technology
  • Interface with outside vendors to select and specify equipment needs.
  • Review 3rd party integration vendors for effectiveness and capabilities.
  • Maintain excellent documentation of program/process changes.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously as needed.
  • Participation in R&D projects for cost reduction, capability development, and improving customer satisfaction.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant experience designing and implementing PLC-based automation/control systems for a process manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical background with passion for manufacturing technology with a desire and ability to envision new manufacturing concepts.
  • Proficient in electronics, mechanics, and PLC programming.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Proficient at reading and drafting electrical diagrams.
  • Possess strong cause-effect analytical ability to solve problems.
  • Possess process/application knowledge of manufacturing processes.
