Department Summary

The Luskin Conference Center (LCC) is a 300,000-square-foot, 7-story property on the UCLA campus. The LCC is comprised of 254 guest rooms, approximately 25,000 square feet of meeting space, a 160-seat restaurant, a fitness center, and a business center. The LCC is an academic meeting and conference destination supporting UCLA's education and research mission.
Position Summary

The Facilities Mechanic will perform semi-skilled tasks, not requiring a licensed technician, involving the installation, removal, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance, of various parts, equipment, and assemblies, on a regular and continuous basis on and around the LCC property. Required skills will include knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, doors and windows, building hardware appliances, floor and ceiling systems, roofing, and basic construction methods. Experience in building and maintenance, using parts and materials, and standard hand and power tools is required. The position is physically demanding and necessitates working varying and sometimes extended hours under difficult conditions.

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

1+ years Experience in a hotel environment (Preferred) Ability to sufficiently communicate in written and verbal English to receive work assignments and share information with supervisors, colleagues, and guests (Required) Ability to comply with safety standards and procedures for both personal and public safety (Required) Ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive manner (Required) Ability to read, write, and perform basic calculations necessary to understand building plans, architectural drawings, and measurements (Required) Ability to use computers, tablets, and smart devices with business software, property management software, and maintenance software to accurately record, track, and communicate info about assigned tasks (Required) Working knowledge of semi-skilled plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry maintenance and repairs ◦ Plumbing fixtures ◦ Basic electrical theory, wiring, and low-voltage (12v/24v) electrical systems ◦ Mechanical equipment such as motors, fans, heaters, air conditioners, and controls ◦ Key card door locks and their operating systems (Required) Demonstrable knowledge of building materials and equipment (Required) Knowledge of hand and power tools used in building maintenance, their different uses, and the ability to know which tool is correct for an assigned task (Required) Ability to prioritize assignments and make appropriate adjustments despite changes in workload and competing deadlines (Required)
