FIELD APPLICATION SPECIALIST

Job Summary:

The Field Application Specialist is responsible for high-level technical and application training to Copans customers. The primary focus of this position is to assist on-site customer installations, contributing to the development and implementation of training programs, and developing technical communications and change management initiatives for WASP, WASPLab and Liquid Based Microbiology (LBM) customers in the US and Canada. This position reports to Copan Diagnostics Inc. CEO and the US Field Application Specialist Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Conducts comprehensive user training on WASP and WASPLab to customer competency, optimal utilization, and self-sufficiency.

During installations FAS may be required to be at site of installation for up to 10 weeks Monday through Friday.

Demonstrates proficiency in application of COPANs instruments and software by uncovering customers needs, implementing customized solutions, and facilitating rapid adoption.

Collaborates with Field Service to enhance customer experience.

Ensures that the level of knowledge and trust in WASP and WASPLab is optimal at different customer sites.

Drives implementation process and optimal utilization of COPANs automation.

Conducts product demonstrations, while promoting product value to support the sales of COPAN automated platforms at tradeshows, workshops and customer sites as needed.

Assists regional sales associates during the implementation of WASP and WASPLab.

Contributes to laboratory workflow productivity by maximizing the efficiency of the product training.

Routinely checks that the configuration of COPANs automation is optimal and that customers are running QC procedures properly.

Work with the sales team to ensure maximum utilization of COPAN products (i.e. ESwab, FecalSwab and broths, etc.).

Work with the sales team and customer for ESwab, FecalSwab and LBM validations and implementation.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and troubleshooting skills.

Superior presentation and demonstration of products.

Knowledge of workflow aspects as they relate to the laboratory important to the system implementation.

Coordination of training rotations and schedules within the laboratory to achieve cross training for all operators on all shifts.

Flexibility and ability to initiate new assignments and successfully complete them.

Attention to detail, constantly and persistently striving for excellence in technical and customer facing skills.

Superior project management abilities, leading conference calls, teaching, motivational and organizational skills with a proven track record of accomplishments.

Professionalism in customer, cross-team interactions with high concern for customer needs and expectations.

Knowledge and experience of technical and application support.

Energetic and positive attitude, able to communicate the organizational vision and goals, and guiding team members in achieving these goals.

Computer literacy required.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Ability to be on call during evening/weekend as needed.

Education and Experience:

B.S. Degree or equivalent work experience required, preferably in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or Microbiology.

Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Prior field experience in technical clinical training preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit for long periods on airplane or in an auto to reach job destinations.

Must be able to have manual dexterity to operate equipment and tools required on the job.

Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

Must be able to occasionally crouch, kneel, and/or duck into tight spaces of the equipment.

The employee will be required to stand for long periods of time. Kneeling and crouching for extended periods is also necessary.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a lab environment.

The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.

The employee is occasionally exposed to bodily fluids and biological contaminants. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
