    Qualifications

    ASSESSMENT FACTORS

    1. Technical expertise of GIS tools (i.e. MAPublisher) and display of cartography, geospatial visualization and mapping data.
    2. Experience working with clients on concept development, visualizations, and visual story telling in accordance with standards and set procedures.
    3. Ability to anticipates problems and obstacles associated with moderately complex projects and proactively develop creative solutions to address them prior to implementation.
    4. Aptitude of delivers feedback in a positive manner, focusing on performance improvements to encourage individuals to increase their performance.
    5. With no supervision, completes work, meets priorities, and analyze and/or achieve results based on the organization's goals and objectives.

    HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS

    1. Technical Skills. Understand the "back-end" of how maps and software is built and manually able to edit the code.
    2. Visual Design knowledge. Color theory, design theory, 508 Compliance and visual methodologies or can quickly learn them to teach/mentor others across organization.
    3. Proactive thinker. A self-starter that works well in a team environment to identify gaps and edit processes to enhance the production and interaction between teams within the organization.

    Individual Occupational Requirements

    Education

    Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment.

    Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.

    Specialized Experience (for positions above GG-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawinGG, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means.

    DIA positions are Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) positions in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C All applicants must be U.S. citizens at the time of application.
