JOB SUMMARY


The Supervisor of Fitness Programming is a professional role within Fitness and Recreation at TWU University. Reporting to the Director of Fitness and Recreation, the Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing the group exercise program, personal training program, fitness staff, and equipment maintenance at the Fitness and Recreation facilities.


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS


Reports to: Director, Fitness and Recreation


Supervises: Graduate Assistants and Student Assistants


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


  • Direct supervision, training, evaluation, and scheduling of fitness staff.
  • Developing health education programs for the university community.
  • Implementing and overseeing group exercise programs at different campus locations.
  • Maintaining and ensuring fitness equipment is in working condition.
  • Resolving customer service issues.
  • Overseeing recruitment and selection of fitness staff.
  • Managing budgets and payroll.
  • Providing regular reports and updates on program participation and facility maintenance.
  • Developing manuals for fitness programs and staff.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES


  • Assisting with events and functions.
  • Supporting divisional programs and initiatives.
  • Serving on university committees as needed.
  • Performing other requested duties.

EDUCATION


Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Sports Management, or related field required. Master's degree preferred. Certification in group exercise instruction and personal training preferred.


EXPERIENCE


Minimum two years of supervisory experience in fitness required, preferably in a university setting.


REQUIREMENT


Valid driver's license required. CPR/First Aid/AED certification needed.

  • Ability to plan, direct, and evaluate operations effectively.
  • Provide guidance and supervision as necessary.
  • Apply budgeting techniques and emergency procedures.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in using office equipment and software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and travel if needed.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Maintain a discrimination-free work environment. Work both indoors and outdoors.


SAFETY


Promote and maintain a safe work environment. Report any unsafe conditions.
