As a Commercial Underwriter, you will play a key role in contributing to our company's high-quality loan growth by analyzing, underwriting, recommending, and approving credit requests generated by Calling Officers. Your attention to detail and accuracy are crucial in ensuring sound lending decisions and maintaining compliance with loan policies and procedures.

  • Analyze, structure, and underwrite loan requests and renewals, including commercial loans/lines, SBA, commercial real estate, and other wholesale loan products.
  • Work closely with credit officers and account officers to negotiate loan terms and accompany account officers on customer calls when necessary.
  • Assist with training new or less experienced underwriters and analysts.
  • Interact with various teams within the company to address issues related to credit quality, loan structure, pricing, risk grading, and loan documentation.
  • Recommend or approve loans within delegated lending authority.
  • Provide guidance on lending policies, procedures, pricing, and structuring.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with Calling Officers on loan workout plans and sales opportunities during the underwriting process.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in credit analysis and servicing of small to mid-sized commercial loans.
  • For the Senior Commercial Underwriter role, minimum 5-7 years' experience in commercial and C&I underwriting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Commercial underwriting, lending policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Financial statement and cash flow analysis.
  • Knowledge of underwriting policies and SBA loans eligibility requirements.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and qualitative skills.
  • Business writing and grammar skills.

Physical Requirements:

While most of the work is done in an indoor office environment, you should be able to stand, bend, sit, walk, and lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.

Compensation:

The hiring range for this position is $81,000 to $127,000 per year, based on experience, education, and skills.
