Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the nurse to execute patient care duties within your scope of practice. Assist with bathing, changing linens, serving meals, and supporting activities of daily living. Record vital signs, fluid intake, glucose levels, EKG results, bladder scans, and other assigned tasks. Promptly notify the nurse of any important patient needs or changes in condition.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment at all times; dispose of trash as needed and promptly report any safety issues.
  • Engage in purposeful hourly rounds with patients and respond quickly to their requests; provide outstanding customer service and communicate effectively. Report any service-related concerns to the nursing staff without delay.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with colleagues, doctors, and patients. Listen attentively, maintain a positive attitude, promote teamwork, and exhibit strong communication skills. Always go the extra mile, speak clearly and pleasantly, and convey positive non-verbal cues. Demonstrate exemplary customer service consistently.
  • Wear your identification badge during shifts, adhere to the hospital's dress code, and uphold a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
  • Ensure paperwork is prepared and submitted in an organized and timely manner. Maintain and organize patient charts and demonstrate proficiency in computer-based charting and order processing.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses to coordinate schedules and procedures efficiently.
  • Reserve overhead paging for urgent matters only. Assess situations, explore solutions, and make sound decisions with minimal errors.

Qualifications:

Key Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Familiarity with patient care procedures
  • Understanding of basic personal hygiene practices
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficiency in at least two general areas of practice (capable of covering multiple hospital services, roles, or functions)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years of experience in acute or long-term care settings
  • Completion of a recognized CNA, PCT, or paramedic program or current enrollment in nursing school
  • Demonstrated expertise in phlebotomy
