Though 9 in 10 Latino young adults say a college degree is important for success in life, fewer than 15% age 25 or older hold a bachelor's degree.

Voices College-Bound Language Academies exists to change that.


Voices is a public charter school network with a mission to prepare all students for the challenges of higher education through the context of an academically rigorous dual-immersion program.

Every student, regardless of home language, graduates bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.

Role Summary

Key Responsibilities & Outcomes

Capacity Building:

  • Ensures Voices Instructional Leaders build skills and mindsets for academic leadership
  • Ensures Voices instructional leaders are able to implement and execute systems to improve student outcomes at the school level, by increasing the time or quality of instructional leadership at school sites
  • Communicate with and invest ILs in their role as academic leaders for their site
  • Support ILs with academic walkthroughs, instructional coaching, and the development of strong PLC culture and systems
  • Coach IL teams on both technical and adaptive behaviors
  • Observe and provide feedback to ILs on coaching and data analysis skills
  • Provide training and support to build Instructional Leads' and Course Leads' toolbox of instructional leadership skills and strategies
  • Collect and monitor evidence, including network assessments and observation data, to identify team and individual action steps by getting on the ground at each school
  • Support ILs and CLs as a resource in thought partnership and decisionmaking
  • Knowledgeable about network mission/vision, frameworks of instruction, curriculum and network resources in order to connect ILs to supports

Instructional Leadership Cohort:

  • Ensures that Voices instructional cohorts are creating conditions for academic staff to feel supported, valued, and engaged, leading to stronger retention rates
  • Ensure our instructional leadership cohorts have competencies to review, adopt, roll out and effectively implement and sustain the curriculum
  • Model the building of strong PLC structures and culture expected of school leaders through best practices and researchbased professional learning, adult learning and team building strategies
  • Model and coach around the use of student assessment data and other student data for teachingandlearning cycles
  • Work with other leaders in order to create and help execute an IL scope and sequence of skills/topics including needed professional development, for the year
  • Build collective efficacy of IL and CL cohort
  • Build confidence and capacity for ILs and CLs to own their roles as instructional leaders for their campus
  • Build relationships with school leaders and course leads and establishes a safe and collaborative learning space
  • Supports the implementation of school and network priorities and initiatives

Instructional Coach Support:

  • Ensures instructional coaching leads to high student achievement and improved teacher pedagogical skill
  • Facilitate bimonthly coaches cohort meetings and weekly checkins with Instructional Coaches to provide differentiated, rolespecific support as needed throughout the school year
  • Assists principals in identifying goals and works with school principal to develop the Instructional Coach

Other Outcomes:

  • Ensure Voices instructional leaders improve instructional practices based on current research on teachers of color and multilingual students
  • Work with others to ensure the academic systems foster strong multilingual and multicultural student development
  • Ensure our curriculum review, adoption and implementation processes are grounded in our principles of equity, culturalrelevance, inclusion and highacademic achievement for multilingual and multicultural students
  • Strategically plan and project manage other projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision and values of Voices Academies with a deep commitment to improving the lives of students from lowincome communities
  • Experience or commitment to public education, social justice, efficacy and equity
  • Proven record of managing all aspects of a successful project throughout its lifecycle
  • Adept at data analysis; ability to extract meaningful insights across schoolwide data
  • Experience in developing and leading professional development sessions
  • Ability to set direction for a team and motivate others to action
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience, preferably working with similar student and community demographic
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Outstanding organizational skills with experience interacting with a broad range of stakeholders
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Google Suite
  • Works well in a high pressure environment
