Description

The Tissue Clinical Supervisor supports the mission, goals and strategic plan of Nevada Donor Network Inc. (NDN) by providing clinical support to facilitate safe, efficient procurement of tissues. Furthermore, the supervisor provides operation leadership for clinical recovery staff and is expected to perform all the functions of both Tissue Recovery Specialist I/II and Administrator on Call (AOC).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s):
  • Performs responsibilities of position and promotes teamwork and a professional working environment
  • Assists the Manager of Tissue Services with staff planning, including support through the interview and hiring process
  • Participates in the on-call schedule to deliver clinical support and real-time feedback to recovery staff
  • Assists in the development, revision and communication of standards, policies and procedures related to tissue recovery, ensuring that all are compliant with recovery partner directives, American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) standards, and Federal Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines.
  • Serves as lead preceptor in the planning, conducting, and documentation of staff training.
  • Supervises and directs clinical activities, monitors and evaluates staff performance metrics, and develops necessary action plans to ensure competency.
  • Recovers donated human tissue for transplantation and research, including the ability to demonstrate advanced practice procedures.
  • Completes all required donor charts and related reports completely, accurately, and in a timely manner according to protocol.
  • Actively participates in required didactic, clinical, and in-field training sessions.
  • Regularly collaborates with management to assist and supports the development of clinical metrics, scorecards, and process improvement projects to reflect individual, departmental, and company goals.
  • Moderates training discussions with clinical preceptors to ensure consistent and adequate training is being provided.
  • Facilitates both internal and external training and/or continuing education opportunities.
  • Participates in both (external) industry trade associations and (internal) committees
  • Collaborates with Business Development and Coroner Liaisons to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with: all internal clients, organizational leadership, external partners and their staff while serving as the department contact for the resolution of adverse events, discrepancies and errors as needed
  • Regularly collaborates with management to develop and operationalize best practices, implement staff satisfaction and retention initiatives, and contribute to the organizational culture and philosophy.
  • Applies Universal Precautions and appropriate safety precautions at all times.
  • Maintains confidentiality on all donor-related activities and internal matters
  • Assists with various administrative duties including quality improvement initiatives, strategic planning, and other intradepartmental collaboratives
  • Exemplifies the organizational core values and serves as a champion of the mission
  • Assists with Ocular and Organ recovery as needed.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
Bachelor's Degree or higher (required); relevant work experience may be substituted for some academic requirements
Experience: Two-year healthcare related experience (required); minimum (3) year tissue banking experience (required)
Computer Skills: Knowledge of MS office programs
Certificates & Licenses: RN, Paramedic/EMT, CST licenses considered. CTBS certification (required)
Other Requirements: Maintains CTBS certification with the American Association of Tissue Banks as a member in good standing. Knowledge of basic aseptic technique, universal precautions, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology required. Availability on-call or on-site, according to a fixed schedule and able to participate in (12) hour shift rotations, as a member of the clinical staff. Required to have a personal cell phone, remaining with a reasonable radius to respond to case activity within (1) hour. Travel by personal auto may be required to meet all of the duties and responsibilities of the position, and thus reliable transportation is a must.
