Welcome to the Maintenance Service Technician position at Cleveland State University (CSU) in collaboration with Greystar


The Maintenance Service Technicians report to the Area Maintenance Supervisor and perform technical and mechanical work that ensures the physical aspects of the buildings, individual residential units, grounds, amenities, and common areas of the residential communities meet CSU's and Greystar's standards for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and overall functionality for the health, well-being, and success of CSU residential students.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Completes assigned work orders from resident requests and performs preventative maintenance.
  • Prepares vacant units/rooms and new move-ins by completing maintenance tasks.
  • Follows procedures for obtaining materials and tracks inventory used.
  • Completes documentation accurately for service requests.
  • Assists in maintaining grounds, common areas, and amenities.
  • Supports cost-cutting programs by fixing parts when possible.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Complies with safety and risk-management policies.
  • May inspect work performed by contractors to verify quality standards.
  • Conducts routine property inspections.

Organizational Responsibilities:
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and reports violations.
  • Practices proper safety techniques according to policies.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and offers suggestions.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in technology and processes.

Working Conditions:
  • Works in an office within a college residential community environment.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift weights independently and with assistance.
  • May require travel and flexible work schedule.

Required Licenses or Certifications:
  • Must have EPA certifications and valid driver's license.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Must provide own hand tools and be skilled in their use.
  • Proficiency in customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and represent the organization effectively.

  • High School diploma or related experience.

Compensation:

Compensation is based on individual pay decisions, reflecting skills, knowledge, experience, and certifications.


Corporate Positions: Eligible for an annual performance bonus.


Onsite Property Positions: Eligible for discretionary bonuses based on budget.
