JOB DESCRIPTION
Network Engineer

Our client is seeking to hire a talented Network Engineer to join their team on a 6-month contract basis with the potential for an additional 6-month contract renewal
This position's primary responsibilities will be surrounding supporting day-to-day tickets in queue, managing SolarWinds, monitoring, responding to alerts, Visio diagrams, etc
Possible travel (up to 25%) required for hardware swaps as well

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a Cisco (L2), Meraki (Wireless), Palo Alto (firewalls) and Aruba Silverpeaks environment


The Network Engineer, reporting to the IT Manager – Network and Telecom, will be part of a global network team and will be responsible for the overall design and resiliency of a complex and highly available global enterprise network.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


25% of Time - Implement, manage, monitor, troubleshoot and provide operational support for network infrastructure devices such as firewalls, routers and switches.

20% of Time – Set global standards for both hardware and software to meet or exceed requirements as it pertains to performance, supportability, and security

20% of Time – Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problems as necessary. This monitoring responsibility includes being part of a 24x7 on-call support rotation

20% of Time – Create and maintain documentation on all aspects of network infrastructure including participation in the development of hardware, software, and documentation standards


15% of Time – Interact with various parties in a consultative manner to gather and understand requirements in order to implement acceptable solutions.


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
7 Years of experience in the design, configuration, implementation, management, and monitoring of an enterprise network including VOIP and wireless

5 Years of experience in datacenter network architecture and design, network management and network support experience

3 Years of experience designing, architecting, implementing, managing, and monitoring private and public connectivity to multiple cloud providers

3 Years' hands on experience in design, configuration, and management of enterprise level firewalls

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES

Strong understanding of WAN/LAN and transport technologies

Demonstrated experience with the Cisco family of products (Nexus/Catalyst switches, Routers, etc.).
Strong knowledge in routing protocols, specifically EIGRP and BGP

In depth experience with QoS and VOIP troubleshooting

SD-WAN implementation, migration, and support experience

Strong understanding of monitoring tools (SolarWinds preferred)

Experience managing and troubleshooting wireless technologies

Experience working with load balancers and Palo Alto technologies

Knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications, ACI and UCS servers

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
B.S
degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience is preferred

CCNP certification or equivalent experience is preferred

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The compensation for this position is in the range of $45.00 to $50.00 per hour during the 6-12-month contract duration of the assignment
