Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for a full-time, on-site position in the Austin, KY area for the 2024-2025 school year. This role involves providing specialized instruction and support in American Sign Language (ASL) to elementary students.

Job Details:

  • Type: Full-time, On-site
  • Student Assignment: 1-on-1 with an elementary student

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to a elementary student who is deaf or hard of hearing, using ASL and appropriate instructional strategies.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the student's needs and goals.
  • Collaborate with school staff, including speech therapists and educational interpreters, to support the student's communication and educational development.
  • Monitor and assess the student's progress, adjusting instructional techniques and materials as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education, Special Education with a focus on deaf education, or related field.
  • Valid state teaching certification in Deaf Education or eligibility for certification in Kentucky.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required.
  • Experience working with elementary students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
