CoreCivic is currently seeking a HealthServices Information Specialist who have a passionfor providing the highest quality care in an institutionalsetting.     The Health ServicesInformation Specialist is responsible for health data and reportingaccuracy using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and theHealth Information Systems (HIS) reporting.  Ensures healthrecord compliance by reviewing data contained in patient healthrecords, conducting and reviewing system data and reports,participating in audits, and by providing departmental training andtroubleshooting of EMR and HIS technology.  


Thesuccessful applicant should be able to perform ALL of the followingfunctions at a pace and level of performance consistent with theactual job performancerequirements.

  • ·    Oversees data activities for accuracy and completenessbetween multiple facility systems including the EMR, HIS, OMSe, andthe medical case management system for both inpatient andoutpatient services. Performs regular data quality checks andreviews automated data miningresults.      Ensures accurate transfer of databetween systems, troubleshoots issues and refers more complexissues to the technology department. ·     Conducts root cause analysisusing audit and report findings; actively participates in thedevelopment of corrective action plans in coordination withfacility and department leadership and health servicestaff.
  •       Reviews patient health recordsfor completion across all areas of health services to includeclinical, dental and mental health. ·     Ensures accurate and complete transfer of data fromOMEs as needed.
  •         Identifies missing records or incomplete data andrefers to department head for clinical corrections andcompletion.
  •         Verifies and scrubs data to ensure accurate andreliable reporting.        Reviews electronic data mining for errors and conductsbasic manual corrections.        Monitors for record completion to ensure propertracking of offsite and outside referrals, to include emergencytransfers.
  •        Verifies proper datatracking throughout the EMS and HIS systems to include contractspecific systems as required bycontract.
  •         Provides technical training and education to healthservices staff to improve the overall quality, accuracy andreliability of EMR and HIS systems.        Coordinates activities of the telehealth system andprovides technical support.        Participates in testing for system upgrades andprovides feedback for improved systemperformance.
