BHCC fosters a welcoming and supportive learning environment for students by offering associate degrees and certificates, early college and dual enrollment, community education, corporate training, and industry-specific programs.Job Description:Adjunct Theatre Instructor: THR 150 Introduction to StagecraftThe Bunker Hill Community College Performing Arts Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adjunct Instructor of Theatre to teach a Thursday 10:00am-12:45pm section of THR 150: Introduction to Stagecraft in Spring 2026. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping students build foundational stagecraft skills through classroom instruction and hands-on collaboration with departmental productions.Course Description:For those with minimal theatre experience, this course is an accessible entry point into the world of technical theatre, surveying the technical and stagecraft skills that are essential knowledge for all theatre professionals. Students gain a basic understanding of safety principles, equipment, materials, and processes used in the technical aspects of theatre production. This course involves extensive hands-on work in the areas of scenery, props, costume construction, lighting, and sound.Primary Responsibilities:Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in Theatrical Stagecraft, emphasizing project-based learning and safety practices in all areas of technical theatre.Supervise and guide students in developing technical skills necessary for theatre production.Coordinate with the spring production staff and Theatre Program Coordinator to integrate student learning/projects into departmental production work.Requirements:Primary Responsibilities:Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in Theatrical Stagecraft, emphasizing project-based learning and safety practices in all areas of technical theatre.Supervise and guide students in developing technical skills necessary for theatre production.Coordinate with the spring production staff and Theatre Program Coordinator to integrate student learning/projects into departmental production work.Minimum Requirements:MA or MFA in Theatre or a related field, plus professional experience in technical theatre.Strong organizational and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students in a diverse and collaborative academic environment.Knowledge of industry safety standards and best practices.
