Hours: Approximately 15 hours/week of direct services; 20-25 hours/week total

Primary Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Attend meetings and PPTs (Planning and Placement Team meetings).
  • Conduct evaluations and assessments related to hearing impairments.
  • Provide training sessions for staff and families.
  • Deliver direct instruction tailored to the needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH).

Caseload/Assignment Information:

  • Approximately 10 students across PK-12 grade levels.

Job Description:

Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or Audiologist to join our team in Weston, CT for the 2024-2025 school year. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact by providing specialized services and support to students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students' hearing abilities and needs.
  • Provide direct instruction and support in communication skills, including speech and language development.
  • Offer guidance and training to school staff, families, and caregivers on best practices for supporting students with hearing impairments.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress and services provided.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) OR licensure as an Audiologist with experience in educational settings.
  • Experience with assessments, evaluations, and interventions specific to hearing impairments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students with varying degrees of hearing loss.
