Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter

Location:Bellevue, WA

Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary (ASAP - June 21st) with Potential for Extension into Next School Year (NSY)

Schedule: Full-time, 33.5 hours per week

Position Overview: We are seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter to provide support to a high school student in Bellevue, WA. This is a temporary position with an immediate start date and anticipated continuation into the next school year. The ideal candidate will be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and possess the necessary certification to work as an educational interpreter in the state of Washington.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation and communication support to a high school student during classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, and other school-related events.
  • Foster effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers to ensure full participation and understanding.
  • Translate spoken language into ASL and vice versa, conveying the content and intent of the message accurately.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to facilitate the student's academic and social success.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Requirements:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or Educational Staff Associate (ESA) in the state of Washington.
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with students and school staff.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of the student and school community.
  • Commitment to providing in-person services; virtual services will not be considered at this time.

Additional Information:

  • This position is in-person and located in Bellevue, WA.
  • The start date is ASAP, with the position expected to continue until June 21st and potentially extend into the next school year (NSY).
  • Candidates must possess a valid Washington ESA for consideration.
